Karini helps Nigerian traders buy stock at a delivered naira price, and runs a marketplace for verified sellers. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
What we collect
- When you ask for a price or order: your name, phone or WhatsApp number, email if you give it, delivery address, and what you want to buy.
- When you apply to sell: your name, phone, email, business name, CAC registration number and the listings you post. To confirm you own the business we check the CAC record and the name on your Pioneer Pass transfer.
- When you sign in with Google or an email link: only your email address and name. We never see your Google password.
- Payments: handled by Paystack. We see whether a payment went through and the sender's name, never your card details.
- Cookies: one to keep sellers signed in and one that lasts an hour while a sign-in finishes. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Why we use it
- To price, buy, ship and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
- To verify sellers and let buyers reach them about a listing.
- To keep the site safe and to meet our legal and tax duties.
We do not sell your details, and we do not send marketing you didn't ask for.
Who we share it with
Only the companies that help us run Karini, and only what each one needs:
- Our purchasing and shipping partners, who need the goods and a delivery name and phone number.
- Paystack for payments, and Dojah or the CAC for seller checks.
- Supabase (our database), Cloudflare (hosting), Google (sign-in) and Resend (sign-in emails).
Some of these store data outside Nigeria, under contracts that protect it.
A seller's business name, area and WhatsApp number are shown on their listings so buyers can reach them.
How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for six years for tax purposes. Price requests that never became an order are deleted after two years. A seller account and its listings are deleted on request, apart from records we must keep by law.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@karini.site and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
